Artistic Statement<\/span><\/p>\n

Olen taidegraafikko, koska minua kiinnostaa taidegrafiikan pitk\u00e4 traditio sek\u00e4 taitoa vaativat hienostuneet menetelm\u00e4t. Ja erityisesti n\u00e4iden erilaisten menetelmien ilmaisulliset mahdollisuudet. Taidegraafikon on hyv\u00e4 olla sinut yht\u00e4 hyvin ty\u00f6v\u00e4lineiden kuin materiaalienkin kanssa. Ty\u00f6skentely etenee vaiheittain ja verkkainen k\u00e4sity\u00f6 antaa tilaa etsi\u00e4 kuvallisille ajatuksille sopivat ilmaisumuodot<\/span><\/p>\n

I am a Graphic Artist because I am interested in the long tradition and intricate, skill-intensive methods associated with the art form – and especially the expressional possibilities of these different methods. A printmaker should be intimately familiar with their tools as well as their materials. The process of making print progresses in phases, and the rather slow pace of the craft gives room to find the right forms of expression fitting the artist’s thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taidegraafikon ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 on kaksi mielest\u00e4ni yht\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6vaihetta: painolaatan valmistaminen ja vedostaminen. Itse k\u00e4yt\u00e4n laattojen valmistamiseen p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa metalligrafiikan menetelmi\u00e4 l\u00e4hes samalla tavoin kuin suuret mestarit D\u00fcrer, Rembrandt ja Goya vuosisatoja sitten. I think that Graphic Art has two equally important parts: the making of the plate and the actual printing. I primarily use methods of intaglio printing to craft the plate, in almost the same ways as the great masters D\u00fcrer, Rembrandt and Goya centuries ago. On the other hand, the printing process leaves more room for experimentation and individual choices. Printing is much more than just duplication. The plates can be positioned in different ways, one can print many times on the same paper, make small series’ or unique prints, try different colors and papers, collect materials and build collages. The prints themselves show the handprint of the artist, the picture is not born until the printing.<\/span><\/p>\n

As an Artist I work like a researcher, marveling my life and the world. The motives for my works of art come from observations and contemplation, they have an aesthetic and a conceptual level. My studies are pictorial but they also include written references. I strive to transform the original idea into a more ambiguous form in order to give the viewers the possibility to look and think for themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n
